Colon Cancer Supplements and Diet

The following information I have put together through years of advising clients as to natural alternatives in treating colon cancer.
Always consult a medical professional before using any natural substances.

For pain and inflammation;
I would start here with these herbs, and then go on to the cancer fighting section.
Slippery Elm capsules.......4 caps 3 times daily
Marshmallow Root capsules.....3 caps 2 times daily
Triphala tablets.....3 tabs 2 times daily
Alfalfa tablets or capsules, preferably the dehydrated juice.....3 tabs 2 times daily
Cascara Sagrada...one capsule twice daily
Slippery Elm is a demulcent and soothing herb, it soothes the mucous membranes of the bowel, and eliminates toxins.
It was used as a food by the starving soldiers at Valley Forge.
Marshmallow Root is very soothing also for the bowel, marshmallows were originally made from this plant, it grows in wet spongy soil by riverbanks.
Triphala..is a combination of three ayurvedic herbs, it soothes, heals, and tones the bowel. It eliminates toxins from the entire digestive tract. It is a mainstay of ayurvedic medicine. It is made from a combination of three different fruits, these are high in Vitamin C and other nutrients.
Alfalfa is used as a detoxifier in these conditions, and a nutritive. It alkalinizes the body, and helps normalize the bowel and colon flora, so as to help eliminate harmful bacteria and fungus. It also helps to build the blood, which is generally of poor quality in people with a cancer diagnosis.
Cascara Sagrada is known as sacred herb by the Native Americans. It was used to help cure a variety of conditions. In your case, it acts as a stool softener to help ease the pain of bowel movements. There is no griping or gas associated with the use of this herbs. Many people take this herb safely for years. It also acts as a liver detoxifier.
I would also urge you to use liquid flax seed oil right off of the spoon. This would help you for many different reasons.
There is a researcher in Germany by the name of Dr. Johanna Budwig. She is a seven time Nobel Prize nominee. She has cancer clinics all across Europe. The mainstay of her program is hi lignan cold pressed flax oil. This oil is used in combination with sulphur based proteins, such as cottage cheese or skim milk. These two foods are eaten at the same meal, 3 servings of each daily. The dairy should be organic.

The key is that the flax oil provides high oxygen content to the blood. It also improves the hemoglobin, the red blood cells are able to transport oxygen. The flax oil also fights depression. Many people take it as an alternative to anti depressive drugs. It works on the brain chemistry to produce hormones which elevate the mood. You will be surprised at how quickly this works. I realize that you don't have a gallbladder, so that fat digestion is difficult. I would recommend that you pick up some Ox Bile tablets. Take one or two of these each time you take the flax oil, or any other fat. These help the digestion greatly when the gallbladder is gone.
Those with cancer have low cell oxygen. Cancer cells live in an anoerobic environment. They live on carbon dioxide and sugar. High cellular oxygen kills cancer.
Organisms such as harmful bacteria, fungus, and parasites live in an anoerobic environment and help create a condition that fosters the growth of abnormal cells. These organisms cannot live in a high oxygen environment,
Therefore it is important to do all you can to raise the cellular oxygen levels.
Foods either give oxygen or deprive you of it.

All fruits should be eaten raw. Vegetables should be eaten raw, steamed, or baked. No canned food of any type should be used. Microwaved foods are off limits.
The following is a list of foods to avoid. These contain carcinogens, or contribute to the low oxygen content of the blood. They also create toxins which clog up the system.

I would invest in a juicer. One of the best brands I know of is the Omega Juicer. Fresh vegetable juices are easy to digest, and provide many benefits. They clean the blood, give nutrients, and help with oxygen levels.

Essiac Tea:
This has been around for decades, the recipe was given to a Canadian nurse by Native Americans.
One of my co workers, and older lady, had cancer of the liver. She began using the Essiac, and within six months, she tested cancer free. She still uses the Essiac and has not had a recurrence in eight years. She works a forty hour week and is sixty nine years old.
You can make the tea yourself, or buy it prepackaged.
It is a combination of the four following herbs;
Burdock
Slippery Elm
Turkey Rhubarb
Sheep Sorrel

RM 10....this is a combination of highly potent mushrooms which contain a substance called beta glucan. This remedy is excellent for anyone with cancer who has been on pharmaceuticals, it detoxifies the liver, which is a must.
IP 6 and Inositol...this is a remedy made from rice bran and inositol, which is in the B vitamin family. I have a lot of dramatic improvements in clients taking this substance.
One word about cancer and prognosis. The only time it is not curable is when it has consumed the majority of the tissues in the major organs such as the liver and pancreas. In these cases, the organs themselves have been destroyed.
Otherwise, thousands of people thought to be on death's door have been completely restored to health with these remedies.
I could relate to you many case histories, but that would take too long. I will tell you about one very surprising incident. I had a lady come to see me about her husband who was seventy five years old, he had smoked his entire life.
He had lung cancer which had metastasized to the brain.
He had a large tumor in his lungs, and 3 in the brain. The brain tumors were inoperable. They had given him treatments for the lung growths, but they repeatedly returned. The doctors told them he would be dead in three months and there was nothing more that they could do. I told her that if he didn't quit smoking, I could not help them. Then I gave her a protocol to follow, including the above diet, the essiac, the IP 6, and some deep lung cleansing herbs. She brought him into the store 5 months later. He had been pronounced cancer free. He had also given up cigarettes.

There are no side effects, except for the fact that you will detoxify, so you may have more frequent eliminations, and you may feel more tired initially, as the body begins to get rid of many decades of toxins and old material.

Dangers of Caffeinated Sodas.

Food additives interfere with what we drink as well as what we eat. Let alone the dangers posed by the chemical ingredients of soft drinks, additives put in the most popular beverages in the world are quite unsafe. Brominated vegetable oil (BVO) is used to keep flavor oils present in soft drinks in suspension thus giving the well-known cloudy appearance to these beverages. Small residues of BVO are trapped in body fat, and it has not yet been scientifically proven that BVO is safe. Bromate, the main ingredient of BVO, is a poison. Just two to four ounces of a 2 percent solution of BVO can severely poison a child.

WASHINGTON - Caffeine could interfere with the body’s ability to handle blood sugar, thus worsening type 2 diabetes, U.S. researchers said Monday.

The team at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina found a strong correlation between caffeine intake at mealtime and increased glucose and insulin levels among people with type 2 diabetes.
The American Diabetes Association says that at least 90 percent of the 17 million Americans diagnosed with diabetes have type 2, in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or cells ignore the insulin, which the body needs to convert food into energy.

People who drink non-diet soda or fruit punch every day gain weight quickly and face a sharply elevated risk of diabetes, according to a major study released yesterday.
The study of more than 50,000 U.S. nurses found that those who drank just one serving of soda or fruit punch a day tended to gain much more weight than those who drank less than one a month, and had more than an 80 percent increased risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, the most common form of the disease. The risk pertained to drinks sweetened with either sugar or high-fructose corn syrup, such as Pepsi, Coke, and Mountain Dew.

Interstitial Cystitis help

Are you one of the unfortunate who have been diagnosed with interstitial cystitis? Have you been through the rounds of doctor treatments, drugs, invasive procedures, etc, and have not yet found help?

I have had this illness for many years, and at first tried all the usual stuff. I got sicker and more constipated from the drugs, but found no relief.
I turned to herbalism and diet as a last resort.

Here is what I found to work. My illness is now under control. I have occasional flares, but within hours I am better if I take certain herbs and eat foods that help. No more do I have to soak in a warm tub for hours just to control the pain. No more missing work because I can't walk due to the discomfort.

In Chinese herbalism, this problem is classified under damp heat syndromes.
Wu Ling San, or Poria Five, is an excellent combination for this problem. It calms and cools the bladder, releases excess fluid, and calms inflammation.
Like any diuretic combinations, it can cause you to lose a little potassium. Take one 99mg potassium capsule daily when using this.

Take six gotu kola capsules daily. This strengthens the bladder, and rebuilds the inflamed and damaged lining.
Use marshmallow root or slippery elm capsules daily. Eight of either one. This heal inflamed tissue. Use D-mannose, and type of food sugar, as a supplement. It helps rebuild the lining of the bladder when it is ulcerated or inflamed.

Drink flax seed tea for pain. Pour one quart boiling water over four tablespoons of flax seed. Let sit for half an hour. Drain off water(it should be clear and thickened), and drink freely throughout the day.

Avoid the following foods: tomatoes, spicy food, fried food, orange juice, peanuts, sweets, wheat, cheese, mexican food, black pepper, chocolate, coffee, tea, or anything else that seems to aggravate the bladder.

Eat the following foods: dark leafy greens, raw carrots, cabbage, celery, cucumbers, parsley,
any raw vegetables except tomatoes, onions, garlic. Eat steamed vegetables with Brown rice.
Vegetable soup. Tofu. Fish. Chicken. Fruit is ok in moderation, but not cooked. Eat raw blueberries, unless they are irritating for you. Avoid alcohol.

You may have a low grade, chronic bacterial, parasitic, or yeast infection, which aggravates IC. If so, do a parasite or yeast cleanse, and follow a yeast killing diet. Herb combinations for these problems are easily found. Wormwood combination is excellent for killing parasites. A goldenseal combination is good for bacterial problems. Chinese herbs offer a yeast killing combination called Chi chien.

Constipation seems to go hand in hand with IC. So, keep the colon moving. There are plenty of herbs which are useful for this. Use a combination that gives fiber and a laxative, such as Futurebiotics Colon Green. If you are not going at least once daily, you are constipated.

First thing in the morning, eat a raw carrot and drink a glass of room temperature water. This flushes the bladder and alkilinizes the body.

Use yoga, especially pelvic opening postures. Many of these are done on the floor. The energy in that area of the body needs to flow. If you sit at a desk all day, you are in the wrong profession. IC will not get better as long as you are sitting for long periods of time.

Hopefully, these comments will assist those who are looking for a cure. My IC is under control, and it is no longer debilitating.

If you have the frequent urge to go, or leakage which some people have, use the Chinese combination called Golden Book.
Chinese herbs can be ordered easily over the internet. Use Golden Flower or Plum Flower brands. These are very good quality.

You are in charge of your health. What you eat or don't eat can determine whether you can overcome the suffering of IC. Herbs can heal the inflammation and pain. Choose to take charge of your own health.

Elements of Eating

Do you remember what you had for breakfast this morning ? Did it give you energy or
make you feel draggy ? Wouldn't it be nice to know what types of foods are best for you? There is a science of health, which dates back 3 to 5 thousand years, which can tell you which are the optimum foods for you. This system of knowledge is called Ayurveda. It is the ancient Hindu science of health and medicine. It categorizes each of us according to our physical and emotional type. It then offers dietary guidelines which are tailored to your needs. How does Ayurveda do this? By looking at the elements of nature, air, water, earth and fire.

An airy person is generally slight in build, and always has their head in the clouds. They tend to have dry skin, and a nervous temperament.

A person in which fire predominates will have a quick temper and be a fast talker. They are the type A personality, and tend to eat fast.

A watery person is highly emotional, and feels deeply. They tend to retain water, and have trouble losing weight.

The earth type is of a solid build. They tend to be thorough and slow, and sometimes procrastinate. They love rich food.

So, if we gain some idea of what type we might be, how do we know what to eat?
Luckily, Ayurveda also categorizes plants in terms of the elements. The ideal is to eat the types of food that balance your body type.
The Ayurvedic physician would look to see which elements were out of balance in his patient, and then prescribe a diet accordingly.

Most root vegetables like carrots, are Earth. Those which are cooling and wet correspond to the element of Water , such as cucumber and melons. The edible flowering plants, such as broccoli and cauliflower are Air. Fiery foods produce heat in the body. Tomatoes onions, and red bell peppers are in this category.

Based upon the premise of working with foods as medicine, I advise my clients with fire symptoms such as gout or arthritis, to avoid processed meat, cheese, tomatoes, salt, and peppers
I advise them to eat raw celery and carrots, dark green leafy salads, brown rice, and steamed vegetables. Most cases of gout will be better within days on a balancing diet like this.

Earth imbalances will cause lack of energy, excessive weight gain, and laziness. Foods that make this worse are heavy , refined and sweet foods, particularly cheese, bakery foods, and fried food.
This problem can be helped with spicy foods, steamed vegetables, and soups.

Water symptoms, such as edema, respond well to drying foods. I find celery seed, parsley, and dandelion or any kind of bitter green to be very helpful, as well as elimination of sweet foods, which contribute to dampness in the body.

Air symptoms translate into mental or sleep disturbances,feeling "spacey" and sometimes low body weight.Dry skin can sometimes be a problem with an air imbalance. High protein and oily foods are good for this type of imbalance.Use mustard and cumin as spices. Cook with oils like sesame and olive oil, and use coconut oil as a moisturizer. Coconut oil can be found at the health food store, and is especially good for the drying effects of summer heat. Have you noticed that your appetite decreases in the summertime? In Ayurveda, each season of the year requires us to eat differently

What foods are good for you in the summer? Fresh fruits in season, green leafy vegetables, and beans and rice for protein. Cooling foods are important in the summer.

In the Fall, we choose cleansing foods to prepare our bodies for winter. Late summer apples and pears clean the gallbladder and liver.
Spicy soups and steamed vegetables warm the body in preparation for winter.

Wintertime is the season for stews and spicy food. We need the heat from cooked food to provide warmth for the body.

Springtime is the season for housecleaning, and our bodies do the same. It is the best time to eat bitter greens and raw vegetables, as our body cleanses itself to prepare for Summer.

In addition to these guidelines, it is also important to eat slowly, and have small frequent meals throughout the day to keep the blood sugar level.

Following a few simple eating suggestions will make you feel healthier. Understanding the elements present in foods can help us choose more wisely when preparing meals.

Food Addiction and Why Diets Don't Work

Have you tried dieting repeatedly but can't overcome the urge to overeat? Do you feel like you are "never full"?

You could have a hungy ghost.

In the world of spirit, like attracts like. Disembodied beings, (dead people), who are very attached to food, will resist going on to the light after death. Instead, they search for humans that they can hook up with in order to share the enjoyment of meals. But, these boogies can't bother just anyone. You already have to have a tendency to use food as your drug of choice in order for them to be attracted to you.

Does this sound grim to you? Look at it this way. When these beings were alive, their favorite activity was eating. To them, this is heaven...snacks, steaks, donuts, chips, cookies. So why would they want to leave this behind when they die? Rather, they find a like-minded friend to share their favorite hobby.

So how does food addiction start? Food, especially carbs, cause chemicals to be released in the body which are soothing and comforting. These chemicals work to calm you down and make you feel more content. If you have a lot of unresolved emotional issues from your childhood, or past lives, these can be stored in the gut. This creates kind of a "black hole" which wants to be filled with something. Some people choose relationships to fill this void, others choose drugs. Some of us use food. Unfortunately, this type of void also attracts spirits who are also addicted to food. Having one of these ride piggyback on you can create an even stronger craving to eat.
So, how to work through this? You can use prayer, or a ceremony to release unwanted spirits. Fasting can also get rid of these beings. You can also use the services of a shaman type healer to cleanse the aura and cast out spirits.

Once you are cleansed, don't diet. Diet is deprivation and those who have a hole in their gut already feel deprived. Instead, focus on feeling healthier. Choose foods every day to add to your regimen which give you more vitality. Eat snack foods as rewards for adding healthier stuff to your menu plan. And, you must move your body. Don't concentrate on losing weight. Focus on gaining strength and muscle. Find a form of exercise that you like. Exercising with others in aerobics, pilates, or yoga classes is excellent for beginners, as you will want and need encouragement. If nothing else, get up every day and walk before you do anything else.
Get counseling for that emptiness you feel. Counseling will help you find ways to fill yourself up with positive words and affirmations. It will teach you to eliminate toxic relationships which drag you down.

Also, investigate what is the best food plan for you. Which foods lift your energy, and which ones cause it to spiral down? I encourage you to seek out and get the help you need, and pray, that God will lead you to those who can best be of assistance to you.

What Herbs Do I Take?

When we first begin to take responsibility for our own health, we frequently turn to remedies from the earth, versus chemicals that "control" our symptoms.
But where do we start? How do we know which herbs to take?
There is a lot of misinformation out there, unfortunately, which is designed to scare us away from taking natural remedies. There are media reports about "dangerous" reactions to herbs and supplements, created to keep us from exploring nature's remedies.

The truth is, that herbs and supplements are so safe that there are only a handful of documented cases of adverse reactions to natural cures, whereas literally thousands of people every year die from adverse reactions to pharmaceuticals. Negative reports about herbs are highly exaggerated and inflated in order to help the "health industry", ie the "pharmaceutical industry" rake in the profits from their poisons.

So where do you start in choosing herbs? First, avoid companies with highly expensive products that make fantastic claims. Most herbs work more slowly, and need to be taken over time to improve health.

Go to the local library, and do a little research on herbs, or buy a handbook which you can use at home. There are many good reference books on the market to assist you in choosing what you need. Or, you can just buy an herbal tea, tincture or capsule and start taking it. Pick a reliable brand which has been around for a while. Organic herbs are best. Some very safe and energy building herbs are gotu kola, siberian ginseng, alfalfa, fo-ti, and gingko biloba.
If you take the herb as a tea, first notice whether you have a flower, stem, leaf, or root. Roots should be boiled over a low heat in a glass, stainless steel, or ceramic pot. Twenty minutes is about the right time. Let cool, and strain.

Stems and leaves for the most part can be boiled very lightly, then allowed to sit for a few minutes before drinking.

Flowers, however, should not be boiled. Water should be poured over them, they should sit five to ten minutes before they are strained and the tea consumed.

Herbs can be taken as tinctures also, but these preparations are stronger, consult an herbalist before use.

Herbs in capsule form are easy to take. If you have a specific illness which you want to treat, first consult your reference book or a naturopathic professional. There are many herbal combinations on the market which treat a variety of illnesses. I find that the best ones are the Chinese formulas, particularly Golden Flower brand.
